Welcome to Hotel le Domaine aux Quat'Saisons. The House - a little History Le Domaine aux Quat'Saisons is located in the Languedoc in the South of France and is a maison de mâitre dating back to 1882 when it was the summer residence of the Martinel family. During WWII, a garrison of Belgian officers were billeted in the house until June 1940, when German forces took it over. The commandant made it their regional headquarters and they remained here until 1944 when the German army retreated from France.
Follow this link for our House Photo gallery Since 1995, the house has been tastefully and luxuriously refurbished to offer discerning guests accommodation in a refined and elegant atmosphere combining old world charm with modern comforts. All bedrooms are ensuite, spacious and individually designed. The house and rooms are magnificent and in addition to their bedrooms, guests may use the guest salons, terrace and Le Domaine's 2 acre landscaped garden, vineyard and sun-drenched swimming pool complex. Built in 1882 the house is unique in retaining many of its original Languedoc features from the beautiful tiled floors and panelled walls, to the family crest in the hall’s stained glass doors. The house, though typically French in the large proportions of its rooms, has been personalized to include many objets d’art, Persian rugs, and real antiques. | ||

The Grounds The garden of 2 acres has been extensively landscaped with plants, shrubs and trees and is a paradise for wildlife and full of colour. It contains many species of Mediterranean and other plants rarely seen in the region (from South Africa, Arizona, Texas, Mexico, California) which are perfectly adapted to the hot dry summers. There is also a pond with fountain and several areas for relaxing and sitting, including a large wrought iron gazebo.. The vineyard is 100 years old and there are fig and olive trees at the bottom of the garden. There is an outside terrace for eating and relaxing. At night the 125 year old maritime pines are flood lit offering a spectacular view of their canopy. Guests may then wish to sit in the parc by the pond, or on the terrace. Often a smell of herbs and resin fills the air and the tranquillity is only broken by the occasional sound of an owl, as a pair roost and nest in the old maritime pine trees. Quiet and secluded, the large pool provides an oasis of lushness and colour during summer months. Here guests can sit on sun-loungers around the pool side or under the cover of a veranda and watch the swallows skim the water and the butterflies feed on the hibiscus. It is an ideal place to relax after a day’s sight seeing. Hotel Facilities Guests will not only enjoy their individually designed bedrooms but also have use of the library with its French windows opening onto the terrace and garden and a second salon with free internet PC.
